Our take
Serian The Original is a small riverside camp in Mara North Conservancy, built around personal guiding rather than a busy facilities programme. A private safari vehicle, guide and spotter give each booking considerable freedom over its time in the field.
Set above the Mara River with views towards the Siria Escarpment, Serian The Original has a traditional, hosted atmosphere. Raised canvas marquees sit around a thatched mess, where a fireplace, books and shared meals create a comfortable base between drives. The camp is in Mara North rather than inside the national reserve. Its defining feature is the private guiding arrangement, which lets guests shape outings around wildlife interests, photography or family pace.

Accommodation
Accommodation comprises four standard marquee tents and one family suite. Standard tents stand on hardwood decks, with terraces and spacious bathrooms containing a bath, shower, twin basins and flushing toilet. The family suite consists of two separate sleeping tents joined by a shared living area, each with its own bathroom. Beds can be arranged as doubles or twins. The open bathroom design brings river-valley views into the experience.

Food & drink
Meals are hosted and sociable, centred on the mess and its dining deck. Breakfast or lunch can instead be packed for a longer outing, making it possible to stay with interesting wildlife rather than return to camp at a fixed hour. Fireside evenings provide a relaxed end to the safari day.

Each booking has a private four-wheel-drive vehicle, guide and spotter, allowing flexible departures and time spent following particular wildlife. Conservancy activities include game drives, evening drives and guided walking. Cultural experiences, fly camping and balloon flights can broaden a stay, with some outings requiring advance arrangement or additional payment. Visits to the national reserve can be incorporated where useful. Migration routes and crossings remain dependent on wildlife movement and conditions.

Mara North Airstrip serves the camp, which operates throughout the year. There is no Wi-Fi at The Original. Conservancy and national-reserve outings have different rules and access arrangements, so the daily plan should reflect where you want to explore.
