Our take
Angama Safari Camp brings four carefully furnished tents into the Mara Triangle, with a small dedicated team and safari days shaped around your interests. It combines the intimacy of a mobile camp with the comfort and thoughtful service of Angama.
This is Angama’s smaller camp on the plains, rather than the escarpment lodge above them. A lounge and dining tent, shaded gazebo and campfire create sociable places to pause between drives, while the surrounding Mara remains the main attraction. Its light footprint allows the camp to use selected wilderness sites during the migration season. Resident wildlife makes the wider area rewarding beyond the migrating herds; neither their exact position nor a river crossing can be promised.

Accommodation
Four en-suite tents accommodate up to eight guests. Their broad orientation opens the bedroom towards the plains, with an extra-length king bed that can convert to twins, a writing desk, dressing area and outdoor seating. Bathrooms have double basins, twin bucket showers and a separate toilet. Fans and tent ventilation provide cooling, while charging points and Wi-Fi add practical comforts without turning the stay into a conventional hotel experience.

Food & drink
The dedicated chef plans meals around your safari day and dietary preferences, with relaxed family-style food and outdoor settings. Breakfast may be cooked over the fire or packed for an early drive, while picnic lunches allow longer explorations. Evenings bring dinner and conversation around camp, rather than a fixed restaurant timetable.

Guided drives explore the Mara Triangle, from shorter outings to full days with a picnic. The camp’s small size gives the team scope to adapt the pace to guests, whether the focus is big cats, birdlife or photography. Walking takes place on the Oloololo Escarpment rather than freely across the reserve plains. Balloon flights and in-tent massages can be arranged separately; wildlife activity and weather shape each day.

Young children can have a third bed in a tent, and the small camp gives families a close-knit setting. There are no interconnecting family tents. The tent layout, guide arrangements and children’s ages should be considered together when planning the stay.
The appeal is being down on the Mara plains with just four guest tents. The mobile design, campfire kitchen and dedicated team create a particularly intimate contrast to the larger Angama Mara lodge on the escarpment above.
Angama Safari Camp uses selected sites within the Mara Triangle, so the current camp position matters when planning transfers and daily wildlife viewing. Reserve fees, balloon flights and premium drinks are separate elements to allow for in the overall proposal.
