Angama Mara sits on the Oloololo escarpment above the Mara Triangle, with 30 glass-fronted tented suites in two separate camps. Wide views, spacious rooms and a flexible safari programme give it a distinctive perspective on the Maasai Mara.
Angama Mara looks down over the Mara Triangle from the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Its two camps have separate guest areas, creating a more intimate atmosphere than the overall room count might suggest. Contemporary furniture, open views and generous terraces distinguish it from a traditional canvas camp. A swimming pool, fitness room, photographic studio and beading studio provide plenty to enjoy between drives. The lodge is above the reserve rather than within a private conservancy.

Accommodation
Thirty en-suite tented suites are divided equally between the two camps. Their broad glass fronts face the plains, with canvas walls and roofs preserving a tented character. Private decks, sitting areas and bathrooms share the view. Each camp has two pairs of interconnecting suites for families. An adapted suite is available for guests with mobility requirements, although the exact access needed should be discussed before booking.

Food & drink
Menus draw on Kenyan ingredients alongside international dishes, with meals served in the guest areas or outdoors. Packed breakfasts and picnic lunches make longer drives possible without returning to the lodge. A private picnic on the Out of Africa kopje and the forest barbecue add different settings to the stay; dietary needs should be shared in advance.

What to do
Game drives explore the Mara Triangle, with timings adjusted around wildlife and your interests. Guided escarpment walks reveal a different landscape from the plains below. The photographic studio offers help with equipment and images, while the beading studio provides an opportunity to meet local craftswomen. Hot-air ballooning, Maasai community visits and massage treatments can also be arranged; some experiences carry an additional charge.

Children of all ages are welcome. Four suites in each camp can be linked as two pairs, giving families separate bedrooms with an internal connection. Young children may require a private safari vehicle, so the room choice and guiding arrangement should be planned together.
The escarpment panorama is Angama’s defining feature. Glass-fronted suites, a photographic studio and picnics on the Out of Africa kopje make it particularly distinctive, while the two separate camps help retain a personal atmosphere.
Access to wildlife viewing involves descending into the Mara Triangle. That differs from staying directly on the plains or in a conservancy. Choose the room and camp alongside your preferred driving pattern, especially if stairs or mobility are a consideration.
