Our take

About Sirai House

Sirai House is an exclusive-use six-suite residence on Borana, combining a private safari setting with extensive house facilities. Personal dining, guided outings and separate bedroom suites make it a substantial base for a family or group travelling together.

The house occupies a ridge on a private estate within Borana Conservancy, with views across Laikipia towards Mount Kenya. Architecture, Kenyan craftsmanship and a considered art collection give the interiors a strong character, while terraces and gardens provide places to gather outside. It is booked as a private residence, with the flexibility to divide the day between wildlife outings and time at the house. The scale and facilities make staying in rewarding as well as going out.

Accommodation

Rooms

Six suites are arranged separately from the main gathering spaces. The principal suite has dressing space, a marble bathroom and its own terrace and private infinity pool. Suites three and four share a drawing room, as do suites five and six, which sit farther from the main house. Bedrooms have generous bathrooms and private outside space. The main heated 20-metre swimming pool is a separate facility shared by the guests occupying the house.

02

Food & drink

Dining

The chef plans menus around guests' preferences, using produce from the house's shamba, local eggs and Borana beef. Breakfast on a terrace, pizza from the pool loggia's wood oven and tea on the lawn provide different settings throughout the day. Dinners can be formal or relaxed, with bush picnics and sundowners extending dining beyond the house.

What to do

Activities

Private game drives and guided walks explore Borana, with opportunities to learn about rhino conservation alongside scouts. Experienced riders can arrange horse outings; e-biking and excursions to Ngare Ndare offer other perspectives on the region. Back at the house, facilities include a gym, spa, yoga studio, cinema, billiards and courts for games. Helicopter excursions and fly camping can be arranged as part of a wider itinerary, subject to the relevant arrangements and charges.

Planning your stay

The details that make a difference.

Travelling together

The separate suites give a multi-generation group room to spread out, while shared drawing rooms provide a useful connection between some bedrooms. Pool supervision and the distance between suites and main spaces should guide room allocation for younger children.

What sets it apart

Sirai pairs private-house hospitality with a particularly extensive collection of leisure facilities. The principal suite's private pool, the larger main swimming pool and the choice of dining settings create different ways to enjoy the property as a group.

Before you book

Horse riding is intended for advanced, experienced riders. Suite positions vary, with some farther from the main house, and the estate setting means walking distances deserve consideration. Specialist excursions need advance planning alongside the group's safari programme.
