Our take

About Borana

Borana Lodge is an intimate luxury safari lodge set within the heart of Kenya’s 32,000-acre Borana Conservancy, on the foothills of Mount Kenya. Perched on a scenic hillside with sweeping views across rolling valleys and open savannah, the lodge combines exceptional wildlife encounters with a pioneering conservation ethos, offering an exclusive safari experience in one of East Africa’s leading private conservancies.

One of Kenya’s original eco-lodges, Borana Lodge has welcomed guests since 1993 and has played a vital role in funding the conservation of the Borana Conservancy and its thriving black and white rhino populations. Built from locally sourced stone, cedar and thatch, the lodge blends seamlessly into its surroundings while providing warm hospitality and personalised service. A stay here offers far more than a traditional safari, with guests gaining unique insight into the conservancy’s wildlife protection, community projects and sustainability initiatives.

We recommend Borana selectively according to season, routing, room availability and the experience offered by the other stops in your itinerary.
