Our take
Sasaab overlooks the Ewaso Nyiro River in Samburu’s Westgate Community Conservancy. Moroccan-inspired architecture, private plunge pools and two family arrangements create a comfortable northern Kenya base, with drives, walking, camel outings and community experiences offering variety beyond the lodge.
Sasaab stands above the Ewaso Nyiro River, with open guest spaces shaped by Swahili and Moroccan influences. A sunken courtyard, lounge, bar and dining area provide a shaded centre to the lodge. The Westgate Community Conservancy setting connects the stay with Samburu landscapes and local communities, while drives can explore the nearby reserves. Accommodation
Sasaab has eleven guest bedrooms, arranged as seven individual suites and two two-bedroom family units. Each family unit has its own shared living area and plunge pool; the individual suites also have private plunge pools and outdoor space. Accommodation is spacious, with open-sided elements and en-suite bathrooms suited to the warm climate. The Riverside and Poolside family options differ in setting, so their position matters when selecting rooms.

Food & drink
The kitchen uses produce from its own shamba, with menus drawing on North African influences and Kenyan ingredients. Meals are enjoyed in the open lodge setting, and a poolside pizza oven provides a more informal option during longer stays. Bush picnics and sundowners can be planned around excursions, with dietary requirements advised before arrival.

Quad biking, fly-camping and helicopter excursions are further options requiring appropriate ages, availability and advance arrangements.
