Why this route works

The Mara, then the Indian Ocean.

An unhurried safari followed by time on the beach, with just two accommodation stops. Four nights gives you time to settle into your camp and enjoy the guiding before a softer six-night finish in Zanzibar.

Choose one of Offbeat Ndoto, Ol Seki or Serian Ngare for the safari, then one of Zuri Zanzibar, White Sand Villas & Spa or Baraza for the beach. Each pairing has a different character; we will help find the combination that suits you.

This is a tailor-made starting point. International travel days and any Nairobi stopover sit outside the ten accommodation nights. Flight connections, room types and the final length are confirmed around your dates.

When to go

Plan the safari and coast together.

On safari

The Mara offers resident wildlife throughout the year. If the migration is a priority, we plan around its usual seasonal movements while keeping expectations flexible. Rainfall, camp location and conservancy access matter more than a promised crossing.

On the coast

June to October is generally Zanzibar’s longer dry season. Warmer months can suit a beach stay too, but April and May are usually wetter. Wind, sea conditions and seasonal hotel operation are checked for your month.

Kendwa’s sea swimming is less affected by tides than the southeast coast. At Paje and Bwejuu, the lagoon changes considerably between high and low tide, so pool time and sea activities follow a different rhythm.

Guide price

From £5,500 per person

Illustrative starting price based on two adults sharing, subject to dates, property choice and availability.

The final price depends on the camp, Zanzibar property, room category, travel dates and flight connections. Baraza’s all-inclusive arrangement differs from other meal plans, and private-pool villa categories carry their own costs.

Your questions

Planning your Mara & Zanzibar safari.

How many nights does this itinerary include?

The example has ten nights in accommodation: four in the Maasai Mara and six on Zanzibar. International travel days and any Nairobi stopover are additional to those ten nights. We can adjust the split to your plans.

Which safari camp would you recommend?

Offbeat Ndoto and Serian Ngare are in Mara North, while Ol Seki is in Naboisho. We compare guiding, atmosphere, room layout and availability before recommending one; the itinerary includes one safari camp, rather than all three.

How do the Zanzibar options differ?

Zuri is at Kendwa on the northwest coast. White Sand is at Paje and Baraza at Bwejuu on the southeast coast, where tides have a greater influence on beach swimming. Villa privacy, pools and meal plans also differ, so we choose around your priorities.

Can we combine the Mara and Zanzibar by air?

Yes. We arrange the flight connections from your safari camp to Zanzibar around the operating schedules for your dates. A connection or overnight stop may be needed, so a direct flight is not assumed.

Can this work for a honeymoon or family holiday?

Yes. The route can be adapted for couples, honeymooners or families. The two-bedroom options at the safari camps and the beach villas offer different arrangements; age policies and activity suitability are checked before we propose the final combination.
