Peponi Hotel is a small boutique hotel -with a big reputation- located on the remote island of Lamu. Run by the Korschen family who happened upon the old building by chance in the 1960’s, this hotel oozes character and charm like Lamu itself.
Peponi is run by the Korschen family and has been since 1967. Whilst the hotel has grown since its early days as a 4-bedroom guest house, the same 'home from home' laid back ethos and atmosphere remains. Over the years Peponi has organically grown into a small boutique hotel with 29 rooms, all of which have an ocean view and unique decor. Peponi Hotel sits at the beginning of the 14km Shella beach.

Accommodation
Guest have a choice of superior or standard rooms; superior rooms are differentiated by their location, size and private outside area with swing bed. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms, overhead fans inside the mosquito net and personal safes. In addition there are family rooms, sleeping up to 4, and 3 apartments featuring a spacious open living, kitchen and dining area.

Food & drink
Dining is relaxed and flexible, with fresh seafood, local produce and Swahili-influenced flavours appearing regularly. Meals may move between the main dining space, the beach, garden or a private villa setting; dietary requirements should be shared before travel.

What to do
There are plenty of activities on offer including water sports for all age groups and levels of experience, with competent instructors on hand and a wide range of equipment to hire from windsurfers, body boards, wake boards and water skis. In addition, the archipelago offers some of Kenya’s best snorkelling waters, with favourable conditions between October and April. Or you may just choose to relax by the pool, overlooking the ocean, drink in hand.
